My friend recently gave me HTC One with Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, quad core 1.5 GHz chipset which is locked to Solo Carrier. Does anyone have any solo unlock software so that I could use the phone? I'm on a different carrier.

There are two ways of unlocking your phone from a specified carrier
1. Unlocking done by your carrier company
i. Obtain the account number, phone number and IMEI number of your device.
ii. Confirm that you meet all the criteria for termination of service set out by the carrier company.
iii. Contact the carrier company for unlocking services.
2. Unlocking the phone on your own
I. Visit the following website https://www.giffgaff.com/unlock
II. Select the made of your phone (for this case as HTC).
III. Select the model of your phone and follow instructions on obtaining the unlock code.
If your phone is network locked, you won’t be able to use it on a different network or use a different SIM card. When you try to insert a SIM card from a different network provider, your phone will prompt you to enter an unlock code. Unfortunately, no network provider will provide you this unlock code.
There is one particular website that offers a service of unlocking the HTC One Smartphone. But sadly, this service is not free and the code has to be requested or ordered and then paid. To try it, go to Unlock HTC One by Code. Here, click the red “UNLOCK HTC One” button to request and order for an unlock code.
On the next page, select your phone’s model from the dropdown list then enter the device’s IMEI code. You can find this code printed on your phone’s package and also inside the battery compartment if you have a removable battery. When all details are entered, click to make an order then you have to wait.
When the code arrives, turn off your phone then insert a SIM card from a different network provider and then turn it on. When you are prompted to enter the unlock code, enter the unlock code sent to you. After this, the phone should be open line or unlocked. The unlock code costs $6.99.
