Hello,

When I tried to connect my camera to PC and after I opened the software this error with DLL problem appeared. I reinstalled the driver and rebooted the PC but the error seems like that won’t solve so easy. I copied the missing DLL but again this. Can anyone please help me to solve this? What is this error?

Thanks!

NIMax.exe – Unable To locate Component

This application has failed to start because dnssd.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Hi David,

Generally Dnssd.dll errors occur because of corrupted Dnssd.dll file or accidental removal of the file. Sometimes, a virus or malware issue or a registry problem or even a hardware failure can cause this issue.  As you have already tried the basic steps like reinstalling and failed to solve so you need to collect a new copy of the file. For your information, National Instruments doesn't support or maintain the Dnssd.dll and it is maintained by 3rd party so download a fresh copy of the file from here.

The missing dnssd.dll file doesn’t only appear after running nimax.exe but also when opening Winamp and maybe other applications as well. So, to better check it, see what application is causing the missing dll file error. If you already tried reinstalling the program and still it didn’t work, see if there is a plug-in involved in the issue.

In Winamp, the cause of the missing dnssd.dll file is a third-party plug-in which has to be started again after reinstalling Winamp. You should also update your program to the latest version. This normally fixes bugs related to library files and other issues. If you installed a plug-in before the error happen then you should uninstall the plug-in.

Another way is to simply download the missing dll file. There are two versions available: dnssd.dll version 3.0.0.10 and dnssd.dll version 1.0.3.1. In case either of the links expires, follow the instruction on the page to generate a new link and then download the file again. Once the file is downloaded, unpack it then copy the dll file to the installation folder of the program requesting it.

If it doesn’t work, copy the dll file to “c:WINDOWSsystem32” and then try again.
