Whenever I try opening any program my screen displays the following error: “The application of DLL C:Windowssystem32winmm.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.” How come I can still open the programs but they would not work? Please help. Thank you.
From the error message, it seems like you have a corrupt winmm.dll system file, and therefore I will suggest that you try the Windows System File checker and see if it can find and replace the file that is corrupt on your computer. To do that, you most likely will need to have the Windows installation CD just in case it asks for it.
As an alternative, you may opt to replace the winmm.dll file from another computer or you can also search for it online and download it. You will just need to make sure that the file that you get is from the same version of Windows in case you take it from another computer. Once you have it, you can now copy the file to the System32 directory and reboot your computer.
