Hi,

I have an Apple Powerbooks G4.  Somehow, it turns off after 5 minutes.

I tried checking the battery but it seems ok.

I cannot install my choice of operating system: osx due to this problem.

I have doubts that this is due to an overheated computer since it does not feel hot.

Please help me solve this problem.

Hello there!

If it is not your power supply that has a problem, then it is your machine's. Try resetting the power manager by simultaneously pressing and releasing Shift > Ctrl > Option > Power on the keyboard. Then wait for 5 seconds and press the Power button to restart your computer. If you have a g4 dvi and g4 1 ghz/867mhz, disengage the keyboard latches and the keyboard locking screw. There is a reset button by the upper right side of the logic board near the power button. Press and release it and again, wait for 5 seconds before you restart your computer.

If this does not work, try resetting the PRAM by pressing and holding the Command > Option > P > R keys down simultaneously before the gray screen appears.

Hold these keys until the computer restarts and until you hear the startup sound for the second time.

Good Luck!
