If your Ipod is a Ipod touch not the shuffle type you can definitely use it to be a connection for an internet.  But you will be needing an adaptor.  It may limit the source of the internet and the files that you will be downloading since it's not really a broadband and wasn't design to make those things.  I have not tried it personally but you can try and let everyone know what it can.

Hello dear,

Every phone available on the market has the facility to be used as a dongle, so you also can use your Apple iPod as a dongle. You can attach it to your PC and get internet facilities, browsing, and downloads.

You have to do a few things. First, get the cable and software for your Apple iPod. Give the model number of your iPod to the vendor, and ask for cable and CD. Then, install the software available on the CD on your computer, and then attach your iPod to your computer via a connecting cable. It will work just like a broadband DSL. I hope this helps you understand. Thanks.
