Yes, it is true that Apple apps were crashing on the iPhone. However, it was the same case for the iPad. The issue arose due to a “glitch” in the distribution code in the Apple app store thereby making updates the source of the crashing applications. Some of the apps said to be crashing are Angry Birds Space, Flipboard, Car Zen, Pinball Maniacs, Instapaper, SmartScan, OCR, GoodReader, and Dolphin HS Browser.

Hello Maxine,

Yes apps do crash on IOS devices and there are a lot of factors causing it. It could be the app itself or something within your IOS device. Sometimes an app crash is caused by a jail broken IOS device too.

When your app crashes, make sure that you don't have a lot of apps running in the background because it can pull down your device's resources in running that app.

The apps do have regular updates and bug fixes. If these apps kept on crashing upon its first release, look forward for a stable update to the next release. App developers do consider the stability of their apps so consumers can enjoy and utilize the app that they use.

I don’t think you can find something on Google that lists apps famous for their crashing abilities. If you experience frequent crashing on your apps or random crashing when you use them, here are some things you can try to try fix them. When an iOS app suddenly crashes when you launch it, try force closing it then re-launch the app.

Access the multitasking tray or app switcher by pressing on the Home button twice. For iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus users, press firmly on the left edge of your screen to access the multitasking view. On the next screen, look for the problem app then swipe up on the app’s preview to close the app. Next, press on the Home button and start the app again.

See if this fixes the problem. If this doesn’t fix it, try force rebooting your device. Press and hold the Home and Power buttons until the screen goes blank and the device reboots. You will know the device is rebooting when you see the Apple logo on the screen. Just ignore it when the slide to turn off your device appears.

Once it has rebooted, try launching the app again and see if it works. If the app still crashes, try checking for an update. The app may have compatibility issues with your current OS. Open the App Store then select the Updates tab. Under Pending Updates, if the problem app appears, press on the Update button to install the latest version.

Once the update is complete, start the app again and see if it works.
