Is it possible to have an APC UPS management tool or with Network Ups Tool (NUT) to connect to a server through cables or USB and notify other computer on the network and shut down their devices? What are the possible issues when performing this setup?

You can try using the APC UPS on a server. Just install the APC UPS on a server, and then connect it via USB to the server, and then make sure that you install the drivers for the UPS. But since you want the UPS to be shutting down other computers on the network and not the server, you may need to have all computers connected to the UPS via USB. I will suggest that you use the business suite UPS, which seems to work much better compared to the others, and then you can add more scripts so that the computers can be gracefully shut down as long as they are on the same UPS. I will not recommend third party software for this, but you can try the 3000XL.

I can give my best solution in this way that it is possible. If you are using a network the this is easy to cut out others computers and just run the server. It depend on your network type and your power supply type.

If you have a UPS then you just need to install it across the server and not across other computers. The UPS are available in many types and they provides the backup of up to one to two hours or more in many cases. If you use it on the server side then you can install it and it will provide the backup in case your network fails. And your server will never be down in any case.

If you simply want to run a network device then you can buy a NUT that supports one device.
