I am trying to record/ burn my CD but I couldn't make this possible. This is the first time that I'm going to use my CD Burner. I am using a Windows XP.
Any solution as to why I cannot record on CD?
If you have a compatible CD burner, you shouldn't need to do anything specially to get it working under Windows XP. If you're unable to record a CD, check to ensure that the feature is properly configured:

Open "My Computer", right-click the "CD Drive icon", and then click "Properties".

Click the "Recording tab" to display the settings.
If you don't see a Recording tab, then Windows XP doesn't recognize your CD burner's recording capabilities. Check the Windows Hardware Compatibility List to make sure your drive is on the list.

Make sure the Enable CD recording on this drive check box is selected. This setting turns on the built-in CD recording features included with Windows XP.

Try a slower speed. Instead of choosing the fastest setting, dial the burning speed back to 18X or even 8X. Your drive may be able to keep up with a less demanding pace.

If the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recording drive by Windows XP, but the drive is recognized only as a CD-ROM, confirm that the CD-R drive or the CD-RW drive is compatible with Windows XP. For example, confirm that the drive is compatible with Windows XP if the recording tab does not appear.Â

If the driver is incompatible, you may still be able to record disks in Windows XP if you use a compatible third-party program or if you update the drivers. Contact the hardware manufacturer for a firmware or a device driver update.
