In addition to using your Nokia handset as a webcam on your computer, you can also use any Android Smartphone handset. Most Smartphones nowadays have excellent built-in cameras which are sometimes better than the average webcam devices bought from the computer store. You can do this so you won’t have to buy for a separate web camera anymore. Here’s the procedure on how you can transform your ordinary Smartphone into one unique computer web camera:

  • You need to download an application called Remote Web Desktop. This is available free from Google play | Remote Web Desktop.
  • Install it on your phone, open it then go to the Web Desktop tab. Set your password here.
  • Enable “Bridge Mode” to use your phone’s 3G connection. Enter your email address then tap “Start Server”.
  • After that open your computer, start your web browser and then enter the URL found at the bottom of your phone’s application which is similar to “http://204.177.42.242:8080”. Enter your email address when asked.
  • Choose the Webcam option to use your handset as a webcam. To test it, open Skype or any application that uses webcam.
