Hello,

I am not a professional photographer, but I like taking photos whenever I travel. I had Nikon view on my PC and I used it to edit my photos during the past few years. But now I don't have Windows on my PC and I have Linux.

I checked the web to see if Nikon view would work on Linux. But didn't find any favourable comments.   Please tell me if there is a new version of Nikon view that would work on Linux and if not, please tell me if there are any similar software like Nikon view for Linux.

Thanks.

Dear Eckel Andrea

I have read your question and I understand that you were using Nikon software on your Windows PC but now you are using Linux so you need to know if there is Nikon software for Linux or similar software.

Nikon software system requirements are Windows and Mac, so unfortunately Linux or other operating systems are not supported.

So the following are some software for pictures viewer that you can download and they are supported by Linux:

1-     Xnview software : https://www.xnview.com/en/index.php

2-     Pinta software : https://pinta-project.com/pintaproject/pinta/

3-     Digikam software : https://www.digikam.org/about/

Best of Luck

There is no hesitation at all that Nikon view does not support Linux. Hence you cannot use Nikon software on Linux. Nikon does not seem to implement its software on Linux in recent times as well. Hence you need the alternative. The best alternative is certainly Vuescan from Hamrick Software and this will give the best experience when you will be using it. You can download this from the above hyperlink.
