Hello,

Would Android KitKat be available to both high end and low end phones? Will all low end phones receive an upgrade? Will it only be available on newer gadgets? And which gadgets are these? I hope experts can shade a light on this.

Hi,

Firstly let me list some of the phones which will receive kitkat update;

Nexus 5, Nexus 7, 10 and 4, Xperia Z, Z1, Z Ultra, Xperia Tablet ,Xperia ZL, LG G2, HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, Note 3 etc For most low end phones you won't be able to get this update unless they offers you the upgrading to Kitkat. Even the above listed phones will receive the update within a fixed time. And lastly, yes the kitkat version will be available to low end phones also but only after a specified time.

Hope this helps

Regards

Antonette

The Android Kit Kat OS will come out on the latest devices first such as the galaxy s4, and then will continue rolling out to older devices. In my personal opinion,if you can't run Jellybean on your device as of yet, you will more than likely not ever receive Kitkat. If you are looking for a phone taylored to that, that can be bought now I would recommend the Galaxy s4. Hope this helps!

Android Kitkat is only available for Android devices running Android Version 4.4. And since most of the Android phones today are version 4.2 or lower, there are only few devices which can run Kitkat. One of it is the Google Nexus 5, but based on some information from the Internet, it will soon be available on Smartphones and Samsung will soon be sending out Kitkat updates in U.S.A. And as far as I know, this update became available for Galaxy S4 last Feb. 13 and will be available on Galaxy Note 3, Note 2, S4 Mini, S4 Active, S4 Zoom, Galaxy S3, S3 Mini, Galaxy Mega and Galaxy Light. And to tablets such as Galaxy Note 8, Tab 3 and Note 10.
