Boot failure due to overclocking with my AMD M3A78 PRO

Hi! My computer has an AMD M3A78 PRO motherboard and every time I go to the BIOS settings, I always get an error message saying that the system experienced a boot failure due to overclocking or voltage change. However, when I load Windows, I don’t experience any problem and all programs run smoothly. Is this something that I need to fix or do I just let it slide? If yes, how do I fix the BIOS error that I’m getting?

There are several issues that can cause boot failure on a computer. However, the most common issue is incorrect BIOS settings. To resolve this, I suggest that you reset your BIOS settings to default. If you do not know the exact default configuration, you can try the steps below to perform a hard reset on your motherboard:

1. Turn off and unplug your computer.

2. Remove the CPU casing

3. Locate the CMOS battery (it is a round shape battery similar to a wrist watch battery but bigger in size).

4. Once you have located the battery, try to remove it and then boot the computer for a while and then shut it down.

5. Return the CMOS battery to its place and then turn on your computer.

See if this will resolve the issue. Good luck!

Thank you for your advice. I have tried what you said, however nothing happened. I’m still getting the same error when I go to the BIOS setup. Can other hardware parts like the Memory, video card, or hard drive cause this issue? I’m guessing that some drivers installed on my computer are conflicting with each other.

Yes, however that scenario is unlikely to happen on your case since your computer works properly when using Windows. Another troubleshooting procedure you can try is to set the core voltage and core clock to default settings. To do this, you can try using CPU-Z. This software can determine default information for your devices. You can download it from this link,

https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Once you have downloaded CPU-Z, run the program and take note of all the core voltage and clocks for the devices, and then go to the BIOS settings at compare. Make sure that the settings on BIOS are same with the results of CPU-Z.

I installed CPU-Z, and I must say that this program is pretty impressive. However, I’m still experiencing the same issue. I tried resetting the clock and voltage on the BIOS but I’m not quite sure if I did the steps correctly. I will definitely try it again later with the help of a friend who is more of a computer geek than I am. Thank you so much for your assistance.

No problem! If the above steps do not resolve the issue, try updating your BIOS firmware. Contact your motherboard manufacturer for support or try searching the Internet for legitimate download sites for upgrading. Here is the download site I found for  AMD M3A78 PRO motherboard. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM2Plus/M3A78_PRO/#download
