Hello experts,

All about the missing directx component for winamp. Yesterday my winamp player is still working fine and until a power outage or block out occurred and my computer was not shutdown properly. This morning I opened my computer with an operating system of windows xp and try to listen some songs but the winamp player is not working anymore and has an error message missing direct component. I hope you can help me to solve this problem. Thank you.

Hello Janet,

Unprocedural shut down of the computer can be harmful to the applications that you have installed and the operating system that you are using as well, and this seems to be what you have happened in your case. To get the Winamp player working again, you will just need to reinstall it afresh.

Regards,

Nicke

Dear Janet Campbel,
To resolve such a problem, you can follow one of the following:
1-        Download the latest Directx from the following site:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
2-        Reinstall your audio driver which will include the required Directx.
3-        Reinstall Winamp
Check if the problem is fixed after each step.
The above steps should be done in this particular order so that any risk of losing your Winamp settings is lessened.  (Make reinstallation the final step.)

That error is not directly pointed to Winamp though the problem was triggered when you launch the program. Winamp uses Microsoft DirectX that is built-in with Microsoft Windows to play music and selected videos. If Winamp triggered an error related to Microsoft DirectX, you just need to reinstall Microsoft DirectX. Download Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtimes.

This will reinstall Microsoft DirectX on your computer and will fix any missing or corrupt DirectX core and system files. The download is around 100 MB and can be installed on Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 including Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 and 2 and Windows Server 2008. See if it works.

If the problem continues and Winamp is still giving an error, download Winamp 5.666. This is the latest and very last version of Winamp after the company was acquired.
