I was really too excited to download my favorites from iTunes in my iPod. But I was quite frustrated when iTunes could not read the contents of my iPod. I have essentially used iPod Software Updater application to restore the iPod to factory settings already. But how come it still won’t read? Are there other updater application options?

If this is the first time it happened that iTunes can’t read your iPod, try restarting your computer then try it again. But since you already factory reset your iPod and iTunes can’t still distinguish your device, maybe there is something wrong with your iTunes. Try doing a clean installation of iTunes to restore it to its default configuration and fix any corrupted files that may have developed in the long run. Disconnect your iPod first from your computer. Uninstall iTunes from your machine then check your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system. Install iTunes again after this and then check if this fixes the problem.

Connect again your iPod to your computer then open iTunes from your desktop. See if the program can connect to your device. But if this didn’t solve the problem, try downloading the latest version of iTunes. To download the latest version, iTunes 10.6.3, you may visit Apple — Download iTunes. iTunes 10.6.3 works with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 and with Macintosh OS X 10.5.8 or later versions.

After downloading the new installer, uninstall your present version of iTunes. When the application is completely removed, open the newly downloaded installer to install iTunes 10.6.3. Check if this one can open your iPod.
