Hello!

After installing Adobe Reader X for first occasion, I tried to open the reader but I always got the following error message:

"CreateFileMapping error" and after that "CreateMapView error".

When I click both popups the reader opens.I use Windows XP Professional SP3 OS and I use Acer TravelMate 6592 laptop.

I had Adobe Reader 9.4 before but there was no problem.

I hope to get help on this. Thanks in advance.

The Adobe Reader X has certain bugs and issues with the Acer Travel mate. I searched through their forums and people using Acer are getting this error. So the best possible solutions for this are.

  1. Uninstall the Reader X and come back to the older version of 9.4 Adobe Reader.
  2. Submit a bug report to Adobe by going to their forums and submitting your error message.
  3. There is also a slight modification you can do to try solving the issue.

Have you considered turning the protected mode off? Here is how you can do it.

  1. Run the Reader X from the icon. Go to edit menu and select preferences.
  2. From the left navigation panel choose General
  3. Disable or uncheck the box saying "Enable Protected mode".
  4. Restart your computer and it will have no issues after that.

Hi Antonio,

Can you try to turn off your Adobe Reader Protected Mode? To do this, open your Adobe Reader X and then select Edit and then Preferences. Choose the General on the left navigation and under the application startup, untick the Enable Protected Mode at Startup. Ensure that you turn the protected mode on after confirming the problem. The function of Protected mode is to keep your system safe and turning it off will make your computer vulnerable to PDF based exploits.
