Adobe Reader X: There was an error opening this document. Access denied.

When I tried to open a PDF file via email servers or platforms, the Adobe Reader encountered an error message below.

“There was an error opening this document. Access denied”

I have also tried to disable “Enable Enhanced Security” within the Preferences > Security menu but still cannot open a PDF file. Please advise and thank you.

This problem has been an issue lately that Adobe Reader X cannot open PDF Files using your email accounts. This external email programs, which includes, Microsoft Outlook 2003,2007,2010, Microsoft Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail and many other external email programs are the ones affected with this kind of error stating, “There was an error opening this document. Access denied.”

Due to the Adobe Reader X’s latest Protected Sandbox Mode, it seems to block and deny opening your PDF files in your email.

To fix this problem, all you have to do is to open your Adobe Reader X, edit the preferences, browse through general tab under categories, and deselect “Enable Protected Mode at Startup”.  After this process you click ok when asked if you are sure. You may now close Adobe Reader X and go to your email programs and try opening the PDF files on your email.
