Adobe Photoshop CS4 Error 1603 Fatal Error During Installation.

Hi there, I tried to install Photoshop CS4 two days ago.  However, there was an error when I tried to have a system restore.

When I was asked to decide to decline or accept the agreement of the user – end license, I choose to accept but windows just closed and nothing was happening.

Therefore I tried to uninstall the program and reinstall again, and the installation always ended at where Adobe Bridge CS4 was going to install.  An error message appeared and said that problem occurred with installation of Photoshop CS4.  I was then asked whether the installation was going to continue.  I chose ‘Continue’ but the installation stopped.

An error message appeared again and it said as follows.

‘ERROR MESSAGE’
Adobe Photoshop CS4
Error: Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.
Adobe Photoshop CS4
Error: Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.
Adobe Bridge CS4
Error: Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.
Adobe Device Central CS4
Error: Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.’

Please help to solve the situation because I need to finish a project within one week.  Many thanks.

Hi there,

Error is a generic machine-specific issue. One or more of the ff. Fixes may resolve the error.

  1. This error is known to occur on computers that do not have enough disk space for the installation. Increase your hard disk space.
  2. The temp directory is full.
  3. A certain file on the machine is locked. To fix this:

  • Close all applications running in the background.
  • Reboot your Computer.
  • Run the installation again.

  1. The windows installer service may not be properly installed on the machine. Update the system with the latest Windows Installer Service.
  2. On Windows NT, 2000, XP, make sure you have administrative privilege.
  3. Use Microsoft's Windows Installer Clean Up utility to remove traces of previous installations. This utility does not remove files installed by the installation. W/C may need to be removes manually.

I hope this steps can help you fix your problem.

If you are receiving “fatal error” during the installation of Adobe Photoshop CS4, review the system requirements again and make sure your computer is fully compatible with the program. Photoshop CS4 supports Windows XP Service Pack 2 or higher 32-bit only and Windows Vista (Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise edition) Service Pack 1 or higher both 32-bit and 64-bit.

It requires at least 1.8 GHz or faster processor, 512 MB RAM, 1 GB free hard drive space, 1024 x 768 screen resolution, video card with OpenGL 2.0 and Shader Model 3.0 support, and optical drive. If you are using Microsoft Windows 7 or later, you cannot install Photoshop CS4 because it is not supported. Install Adobe Photoshop CS5 instead because it fully supports Microsoft Windows 7.

Adobe Photoshop CS5 supports Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista (Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise edition) Service Pack 1 or higher, and Windows 7. It requires at least Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent AMD Athlon 64 processor, 1 GB RAM, 1 GB free hard drive space, 1024 x 768 screen resolution, video card with OpenGL 2.0 and Shader Model 3.0 support with 256 MB video RAM, and optical drive.
