I have installed Adobe Reader version 10.1.4.38 and I want to update it to the latest version. Whenever I try to update it, it does not do anything. I have even tried restarting the computer or the application itself yet nothing happens. I do not want to miss out on latest updates. Help

Hello Aabel!

I there’s only one best way to resolve your problem. This is to uninstall Adobe Reader and re-install it again. Make sure that you delete also Adobe Reader old folder in program files in your main drive.

This is the only way we can correct this problem. Updates are coming from its own manufacturer or developer. We cannot just make some system registry manipulation. This might cause other issue to arise in your computer. For me this is the safest way to resolve your issue. After installing the software, get the latest  updates again.

If the built-in update button in Adobe Reader doesn’t work when you try to update the program, check your internet connection. If your computer is connected to a Wi-Fi router via network cable, disconnect the cable from the network port at the back of the CPU then plug it back in. Open your web browser and visit a website then try clicking some links.

Verify that there is internet connection. If this doesn’t work, disconnect the other end of the cable from the Wi-Fi router then connect it back. If this doesn’t work, restart the router. If the router has a power button, press it to turn it off then unplug the router from the power outlet for about ten (10) to twenty (20) seconds.

Press any button on the router to discharge any leftover power or to power cycle. After this, plug the router back to the power and turn it on. On the other hand, if internet connection is working but Adobe Reader is not updating, just download the update manually. You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

It supports Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10 including Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 (64-bit only), and Windows Server 2012 R2 (64-bit only). It requires 1.5 GHz or faster processor, 1 GB RAM, 380 MB free space, and 1024 x 768 minimum screen resolution. Supported browsers include Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 and Mozilla Firefox ESR edition.

Please read and check other optional downloads before hitting the “Install now” button to download the installer to avoid downloading other bundled software. Alternatively, you can use Foxit PDF Reader. It supports Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. It is compatible with Microsoft Office 2007 and higher.
