Adobe Air An error occurred during installation

I have installed adobe air for quite some time now. Now it asks me to download a patch for it. After doing so an error message pops out.

I have already tried it twice and still the same error persists to occur. What seems to be the problem with this?

Is there another patch for my system that I need to download first?

This problem should be fixable by removing the old update files. From Library -> Application Support -> Adobe open the Installers folder and remove the patch file for Adobe Air. From your home folder, also in the Application folder, find the Updater folder and remove anything with Adobe Air in the name from the Data and Install folders. Then try reinstalling the patch.

Another but probably more time-consuming possibility is to uninstall and reinstall the whole program and then trying to apply the patch again.
