I have WinXP and Adobe Acrobat Reader 10.1 installed. I find the "recent files" feature annoying and wish to hide it. I've checked their forums but no one could help me there.

Hi,

There's No way to hide the recent files option but if it is very important for you to remove recent files follow these steps:

1. Click on start and type in run "regedit".

2. Search for HKEY_CURRENT_USER

3. Expand the tab and then search for software(easy way is to press the s key).

4. Then adobe > Adobe acrobat > 10.1 > AVGeneral > RecentFiles.

5. Now delete the file and it should remove the history.

But make sure that you follow these steps closely and also if not necessary don't remove such files.

Hi,

You want to hide that, here is a solution:

  1. Make sure the reader application is closed.
  2. Open Registry Editor from Start=>Run=>RegEdit.
  3. Browse for the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesAdobeAcrobat Reader10.1FeatureLockDown.
  4. Create a new key there as “cWelcomeScreen”.
  5. At “cWelcomeScreen”, create a DWORD value ‘bShowWelcomeScreen” and set it as “0”.
  6. Then close the window and restart Acrobat Reader 10.1.

Make sure you follow all the steps; you would not see that recent file screen again.

Thanks.
