Address book is not working

My address book has been locked. When I try to send e-mail it tells me that the address book did not load.

When I go to start. all programs > accessories > address book it tells me that the address book has been locked by another application.

What could be possible solution?

Hi,

This address book using Outlook Express and this problem occurred when address book file marked with Read only attributes.

So please follow below procedure, your problem will be solve.

Please follow this link to find your address book main file

C:Documents and SettingsUser ProfileApplication DataMicrosoftAddress Bookuser name.wab

Now please follow as below picture and uncheck Read only attribute.

Hello Rose,

When getting error message Address Book won’t open and has been blocked by another application, this is caused by a corrupt Software Application. What needs to be done is to uninstall the software application and re-install it back.

  • Before doing the re-installation, you may try these possible steps to fix this issue.
  • Go to Start, then Search, For Files or Folders.
  • Type this in the box: *.wab
  • Look Inbox, Include your local folder and Find Now.
  • Click the .wab file that you find. On the File menu, click Properties.
  • In Properties dialog box, under Attributes, clear the Read-only check box.
  • Click Apply, and then click OK.
  • Open Outlook Express and test a new e-mail message or try to access the Address Book.
