I tried to upgrade/install a Fedora software package using Add/Remove Software on Fedora 10, and I get the error message below:

No package cache is available.

The package list needs to be rebuilt, This should have been done by the backend automatically.

More details

Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again

Why is this happening?

Can anybody please help?

Thanks.

You just cannot install the Fedora using ADD remove programs from the windows control panel.

Fedora itself is another operating system.

  1. You can either install a virtual machine or install the fedora using that software.
  2. It works just like a software and you just have to specify the path name where you fedora is located and it will do the rest of the installation for you.
  3. Or you can just create a new partition in your hard disk and restart your PC with the Fedora disk inside your CD ROM. put your CD ROM first in the boot list and boot from it.
  4. Once done perform the installation process by following the simple steps and there is no need to worry.
  5. After that restart your computer and now you have a dual boot in your system.
