Hello!

I want to know what is the purpose and functions of dish? How does it works? What do you mean by “egress?” How does it affect cable television reception? What are the main reason why we have “egress?” What is F-Connector and what is the use of it? Is it an old connector? Do we have a upgraded version of this connector? What does HFC stands for and what is the proper use of it? What is forward path? What is matching transformer and what is a jumper?

Thank you!

Hello Pamela!

I want to know what is the purpose and functions of dish?

Is used to receive electromagnetic signals from the service provider or most of the time cable and internet provider. It will start from the programming or network source send to broadcast center, pushed to satellite, send signals to dish and go thru our receivers.

A signal leakage from cable network is called Egress. It gives minority interruptions or most of the time lose picture and will show you in the screen “No Signal.” Interferences are one of the major reasons of egress. Microwave signals from any of our household devices could cause signal fluctuation.

F-Connector is used to connect drop-sized coaxial cable to a receiver. Hybrid-Fiber Coax developed by cable industry that uses fiber optic architecture and combination of coax to transmit signals. Forward path is type of signal from the head-end to customer. Matching transformer is a connector to connect old television to coaxial cable. Jumper is a small connector used to connect cable boxes to television.
