Activation of Windows 7 in Notebook

Hi,

I need help with my problem after installing Windows 7. I cannot seem to activate it even though I already followed the instructions of the guide from HP. I used the program they provided in the link but somehow, it did not activate. Each time I use it, a prompt appears telling me to enter a key. I entered the key which is printed on a sticker located at the rear of my notebook. Still, it seems that the key is not appropriate for an upgrade.

How can I make this work?

What to do in your case is to check the hardware, download and run the windows 7 upgrade advisor, this checks your PC to see whether they can work together. You have to also choose early whether you want to upgrade your current windows or go for a fresh new one. Do not worry because your applications and data will probably move with you.

After successful installation ensure you activate is within 30 days you did not mention how long it has been after installation. You can activate it manually you will not need the product key but if you do it online you will need your product key. You have an option of activating online using a direct connection, modem or telephone.

You can find your windows key inside the windows package or in the confirmation email if you purchase it online. If you are unable to find it then you will need to buy a new one.

Hi,

Windows OEM installers shouldn’t be asking you for a product key since it should just recognize the system. The product key that is on the sticker at the bottom of the computer is only good for the Windows 7 version that was included with your system when you purchased it. You may have used a different Windows 7 installation media for a different Windows 7 version (Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate) that has a different product key than what you actually have hence it’s not being accepted.

Try requesting your computer’s manufacturer for the operating system installation disk if you lost it.

Thank you. Hope it helps.
