Does anyone know how to resolve the issue in Windows Server 2008? It fails to authenticate any user account from a trusted domain.  The error message I am receiving is; “The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship”.

Check if the attributes of the computer account in Active Directory and the values on the system itself are mismatched. The error message pops up because of this. You can fix the issue with the following:

  1. Go to Active Directory Users & Computer where the domain is.

  2. Check the Advanced Features in the View pull down menu if checked.

  3. Check out the OU structure where the computer account server is.

  4. Click on the Properties and select Attribute Editor. Check the Attributes dnsHostName & servicePrincipalName if the entry matches the hostname you configured on your server. Fix the entries that are incorrect.

  5. Try logging in again after few minutes.
