I need some help in opening my documents in which I have locked inside the Access folder which I have downloaded. I could not open them anymore when I tried to unlock them. Anybody could help me by telling me how to fix the error that says,

"THERE WAS A PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED WHEN TRYING TO UNLOCK THE FOLDER."

I was trying to keep them very safe that now I could not open them when it’s time to use them.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

In this case of problem, you should know what software or program you used to lock your folder so that the experts will know what program or software will be going to use to fix this kind of problem. There are lots of computer programs that can lock the folder like Folder Lock etc. Your problem will be solve by searching the internet on how to unlock folder which was locked by “the software that you used”.

Next time you should have a backup of your important files so that if you want to retrieve them you can do that easily by retrieving it to your back up disk.

You will just need to change the credentials that you had assigned for the folder that are restricting access for you to be able to access the files again. Use the following procedure:

  • Go to the folder that you want to open and right click on it.
  • Choose properties.
  • From the window that will open, click on the security tab.
allow the credentials for full control, modify, read and execute, list folder contents, read and write for the folder.
  • Under system, click on edit and then allow the credentials for full control, modify, read and execute, list folder contents, read and write for the folder.
  • Click OK to save the changes.

Go back  to the folder and try opening it this time. It should be able to open successfully this time round.
