Hello,

I am getting the following error message using online Backup in Home 2012. It works fine before but now every time I try to use Backup an error message appears saying “Access to the file is denied”. I don’t know how to resolve this issue. I just want your suggestion to fix this error.

Hello Joan,

Try the following resolutions:

  • Deny read as well as write access to the share for the Windows user connecting to the share.
  • Try different ownership and/or U**x masks.
  • Check if you have enabled Advanced Folder Permissions on the old and/or the new QNAP NAS.

Without the ACL support, you can run this from the NAS Linux shell using the following command and see if it will work:

[~] # set_volume_mode [sharename]

[~] # set_volume_mode
Usage: set_volume_mode [sharename]
Set directory mode to 0777 and file mod
