Access to BIOS of a Proline Nanoware PC

For quite some time I have been using a Proline Nanoware PC without experiencing any problems at all. However, this has changed since Windows got corrupted. In trying to solve this I tried to reset it to boot from the CD but I could not gain access to BIOS. How come it displays on the diagnostic screen that a keyboard has been detected yet, when you press any key nothing happens?

This happens every time I connect a USB keyboard. Resetting the motherboard jumper has not eased the situation. I don’t know what to do next. Someone please help me with another method to gain access to BIOS?

Try the following:

  1. First, you will need to turn on your PC or restart it in case it is already on.

  2. When it is  "entering setup" a message will appear  in the first few seconds after you have turned on your computer. The message may be different depending on the computer that you have and it also includes the key or keys that you will need to press to enter BIOS, some which are as follows:

    • Press [key] to enter setup
    • Enter BIOS by pressing [key]
    • Press [key] to enter BIOS setup
    • Press [key] to access system configuration
  3. There might be other options, so you will need to quickly press the key as instructed by the previous message to be able to get into BIOS.

If you are trying to access the BIOS with a USB keyboard but nothing happens when you hit a key, turn off the CPU then transfer the USB cable to another USB port. After this, turn on the CPU again then press Del, Delete, F2, or whichever key is used to go to the BIOS.

If this doesn’t work, keep repeating the steps until you tried all the USB ports available including the USB ports in the front panel. If nothing works, try connecting the keyboard to another computer then check if it works there. If the problem follows, it means the keyboard is defective. Replace the keyboard with a new one and it should fix the problem.

On the other hand, if the keyboard works perfectly on the other computer, it means you have a problem with your USB ports. In this case, try using a PCI USB adapter like this one: 7 Port PCI USB Card Adapter.
