Hello,

The linear static analysis calculates displacements, strains, stresses, and reaction forces.

It has been showing an error as shown below when it loads. Any ideas?

Load/Restraint produce large displacement Would you like to stop the program and return with large displacement flag activated?

I’m not sure if it is an error you are getting. The message you are receiving is the result or the feedback of the output of your program and it is more likely that the output of your project results on large displacement. SolidWorks only suggests whether you want to restart your program activating the Large Displacement flag or not since the output produces large displacement.

If you don’t activate this option, SolidWorks thinks that you are going for small displacement. In this kind of solution, it assumes that the normals to contact areas won’t change course when loading. So with this, it applies the full load in one single step. This method usually has inaccurate results or convergence difficulties in instances where the theories are invalid.

The solution for a more accurate result is to request for large displacement. In large displacement solution, it gets more time and resources than with small displacement solution but here, it provides more precise results. To activate large displacement option, in the Simulation study tree, right-click static study icon then select Properties.

In the Options tab, check “Large displacement” then click OK.
