Please help me in creating two domains with DNS and Active Directory. Is it possible that a DNS zone and an Active Directory domain share the same name? Kindly identify the function of DNS in an Active Directory.

Hello,

I don't think it's possible because it may cause some conflicts and errors, if you want them to have a similar name the best thing you could do is to add "-" to either one of them. My professor told me before that if these two share or have similar names it will be more easier to access.

DNS is very important to all every of proper Active Directory operation. Anytime a client makes a request for a domain service, it needs to find a domain controller to answer/respond to that request, which is where DNS comes in. If I remember correctly there are two ways on how DNS queues the requests (recursive and iterative).
