My computer cannot detect the modem than I uninstalled and reinstalled again. The OS was windows XP pro and it was self-built. The modem was like the one that has a phone jack in the back. Another problem here was the trouble-shooter in Microsoft Help and Support was unable to operate because it has a password from the person that gave the computer to my friend and so it was never been connected to internet.
